Grockbot has launched a new voice mode on desktop and mobile that lets users speak with individual AI agents, trigger app-connected workflows, and delegate tasks, though its voice interaction still appears less natural than OpenAI’s ChatGPT Voice Mode.
Grockbot began rolling out voice mode over the past few days for desktop and mobile. The feature adds a voice icon inside the app, allowing direct spoken interaction with agents already configured in a user’s workspace. Early access appears uneven, with desktop availability arriving before some mobile users receive the update.
The system supports conversations not only with a main coordinating agent but also with individual specialist agents. A common setup uses a top-level orchestration agent that delegates to more focused agents handling areas such as email, partnerships, or operations. Users can switch into a specific agent and speak to it directly rather than routing everything through a central assistant.
Voice settings include selectable voices for different agents, letting users assign distinct personalities or roles across their AI stack. Playback speed can be increased to 1.25x or 1.5x, a useful option because default delivery can feel slow. The feature also supports roughly 12 to 20 languages, plus automatic language detection.
In testing, the main agent could accept a spoken request about handling email and then route the work to an email specialist. The agent described a workflow in which messages are triaged, drafts prepared, and urgent items flagged for review. That points to a voice layer built on top of existing multi-agent orchestration rather than a standalone chat tool.
A dedicated email agent was able to discuss unsigned contracts and draft follow-up nudges. Example items included five audits worth 21,000, three projects worth 24, and another stalled item listed at 148. The interaction showed that voice mode is tied to business workflow data already available to the agent, enabling action-oriented exchanges instead of general conversation alone.
One notable test involved asking an agent to open Instagram through the computer-use feature. The agent launched the login page but refused to type credentials, leaving sign-in to the user. That behavior suggests the system can control browser and desktop actions while preserving at least some boundaries around sensitive authentication steps.
Grockbot can pull information from a large number of connected services through plugins. A demonstrated setup included 24 applications, among them X, Granola, Gmail, Clay, and ClickUp. This broad integration is central to the product’s pitch: voice commands can trigger work across business tools rather than remain confined to a single chat window.
When a native integration is missing, users can bridge the gap through Zapier MCP. In one example, an agent used that connection to retrieve campaign data from Drip, an email marketing platform without a built-in plugin in the workspace. The agent returned core details such as a campaign subject line and subscriber count of 14,831, while noting that open and click rates were unavailable through that API path.
The new mode shows clear utility in workflow automation, especially for users already relying on specialized agents and external app connections. But voice quality remains a weaker point. Compared with ChatGPT Voice Mode, Grockbot was judged less natural, slower in delivery, and less reliable at following instructions to stop speaking and respond with text only, even though OpenAI still appears to lead on interruption handling and conversational realism.
Grockbot’s voice mode extends multi-agent automation into spoken interaction and makes app-driven task execution more accessible. Its practical integrations are compelling, but the conversational experience still trails ChatGPT Voice Mode on responsiveness and polish.
