Anthropic has launched Claude Duet, a new always-on AI agent built around Opus 5.5, as rivals including OpenAI, Grokbot, ChatGPT, Gemini, and NotebookLM rolled out competing upgrades in proactive assistance, dashboards, app control, privacy, and presentation tools.
Claude Duet is a separate app from the main Claude product, but it carries over existing memory, skills, and connected apps. It is designed as an always-on agent that checks linked services every few hours, sends a morning brief, and only surfaces issues that appear to need attention rather than waiting for prompts. It also runs on its own cloud computer with a browser, allowing work to continue even when a user’s phone or laptop is off.
The service can read, draft, research, prepare work, browse the web, and manage tasks across channels that share a common memory. But Anthropic has limited sensitive actions: sending messages, signing documents, deleting items, or making payments requires user approval, while some actions such as stock trading or moving money between accounts are blocked entirely. Access is currently gated by a waitlist.
Early users describe Claude Duet as especially useful for meeting preparation, hourly email handling, identifying subtle issues across communication channels, and maintaining a dynamic to-do list. A swipe action can hand list items directly to the agent, while built-in dashboard creation pulls data from connected tools to present revenue, work, or project summaries in a more visual mobile-friendly format.
Soon after the Claude Duet announcement, OpenAI said ChatGPT Dot would be included in all Pro plans without counting against weekly usage. The company did not specify how long that access would last or exactly when it would be fully available, but the move signaled a faster competitive response in the market for premium AI agents.
Grokbot now supports activation from the iPhone action button, including from the lock screen, while staying active in the Dynamic Island during multitasking. On iPhone it can also connect to system features and apps, including Calendar, Apple Home, reminders, contacts, alarms, and timers, extending AI assistant functions into tasks that have traditionally belonged to Siri.
A larger Grokbot update adds sharable reports, memos, and dashboards. These pages can summarize research, track fitness logs such as weight changes and workouts, and monitor comment sentiment with spam or abuse flags. The shift reflects a broader industry push toward AI outputs that are not just conversational, but visual, persistent, and easy to review on a phone.
Users have begun using Claude Code to rework smart TV interfaces, particularly on Android TV and Google TV, stripping out autoplay, clutter, and unwanted apps to create a simpler front end. In at least one case, it also connected over Wi-Fi to adjust settings on a Samsung TV, showing how coding agents are increasingly being used for consumer-device maintenance rather than only software development.
As models improve, old instruction files and system prompts may become less necessary and more wasteful. Developers are increasingly advising users to audit guidance files such as Claude.md and remove outdated workarounds that consume context and tokens. The same cleanup logic is being applied to larger personal knowledge systems, where unused files and stale dashboards can reduce performance.
ChatGPT is rolling out locked chats protected by a four-digit PIN or biometrics, separating those threads from normal history and memory. The feature is intended for on-device privacy rather than end-to-end encryption, and resetting the PIN permanently deletes locked chats. ChatGPT Slides also now supports sharing, collaborative editing, comments, presentation mode, and export to PowerPoint or PDF, though advanced access is limited to Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers.
In Gemini Notebook, users can now review and revise slide-deck or video-overview outlines before generation begins, a change aimed at reducing wasted usage on unsatisfactory drafts. Gemini also now lets users export generated apps directly to a private Google Site, which can then be published and shared more easily.
The week’s releases show the AI market shifting from chatbots toward persistent agents that monitor, act, summarize, and visualize work across devices and apps. Claude Duet has emerged as a notable challenger by combining strong model performance with proactive behavior, while competitors are moving quickly to close the gap.
