The immediate next phase will be practical. Users and developers will test Astra in real workflows, not just in benchmark tables. Researchers will keep asking whether harness-dependent performance should count as model intelligence, system intelligence or both.

For OpenAI, the challenge is to make the case that Astra is not only powerful, but governable. For the rest of the industry, the launch raises the stakes.
